Natutunan ko pong mag-green juice from googling for alkaline foods. Yung hyper-acidity na lagi kong problema ay hindi pala hyper-acidity kung hindi galing din sa pumasok sa system ko na mga acidic foods (ang hyper-acidity daw po ay when the body itself generates extra acid above normal). Nalaman ko naman ang tungkol sa acidic at alkaline foods 3 yrs ago ng may magrecommend sa aking indigestion to take lemon juice. Hindi man ako maniwala kaya lang alumpihit ako sa sakit tiyan, kaya bumili na rin ako ng lemon bago ko ginoogle. Ay totoo pala na ang lemon pag sayad sa digestive system ay nag-iiwan ng alkaline ash – something like that. Siya, from then on, ay lemonade na lang ang pang alis ko ng gas, minsan kasama sa tya. Yung acidic foods naman ay galing sa greasy foods (so prito is out, boiled/broiled is in), starches (bread, rice is numero uno) kaya cutdown na sa rice/potato (french fries ay once in a blue moon treat na laang), meats - kahit pa lean (fish, poultry, red meat, etc).Tapos, nag-google ako ng iba pang alkaline foods. Noon, kokonti lang, ngayon ang haba na ng lists – mostly green leafy veggies at citrus fruits, avocado, etc. Nuts are acidic at almond yata ay in-between, kaya dropped na rin ang peanut at ibang nuts. (I take almond, at walnut - gawa daw magaling sa cholesterol.) Ang problema, ang kaugalian nating pagkain ay palaging marami ang meat (maski pa tuyo ay fish meat din) at kulang sa greens kaya maraming nahi-high blood. So enter si green salad. Baina, ay katagal kainin. Tapos, nabubulukan ako ng gulay at prutas.

Sa maikling storya, I spotted green juice. Maraming recipe from googling, kanya-kanyang panlasa na lang. Pag madaming greens at kulang sa counter-lasa ay parang kinatas na dahon ng ampalaya na huwag kang hihinga pag inom at sundan ng chocolate. Bai ay acidic din ang chocolate (pareho ng kape). Sabi nga ay “gross”. But it does not need to be. Ang type kong isama kung anong meron at para iba-iba ay spinach, kale, beet greens (hindi yung root crop), baby mustard greens, lettuce, amarynth (para daw spinach ang nutrients), bell pepper, celery sticks, cucumber, cilantro, chard. (Also nutritious ay dandelion, chicory & collard greens pero hindi ko pa naisasama). Ang pang counter-lasa naman ay ice cubes (di kailangan if fruits are frozen), at fruits kung anong meron - apple (very low calories), strawberries, other berries – rasp/blue/black, o kaya ay juices like pomegranate. Easy lang sa juice at basahin muna ang sugar content. Kung walang juice ay damihan ang cucumber at celery, o tubig o ice cubes para madillute ung “gross” taste. Pwede rin samahan ng lemon juice, honey o agave (ang agave ay natural sweetener from plant na hindi sticky like honey). And because I have a bottle of flax seed oil na matagal ng nakakalimutan kong inumin, so ngayon nagagamit ko na gawa ng kalapit ng Vitamix blender para kasama sa routine. Pag gabi, I cut-up everything into the blender pitcher and keep the pitcher sa fridge. Dun naman sa magic bullet cup ay fruits tulad ng peach, berries, banana, pineapple, etc na may fruit juice din (mango juice ang peborit ko) o soy milk. Tuloy did sa fridge o pag malamig ang weather, direcho sa canteen bag. Sa umaga, I pour in juice and oil (flax, almond, etc) into the blender at sya green smoothie na un bago mag breakfast. Ung magic bullet naman ay sa afternoon break ko sa trabaho (I keep the magic bullet sa workplace). Isang tak-tak ng nutmeg and then blend, ay di may smoothie rin ako para hindi lalaypot-laypot later in the day. Sabi daw, you have to consume green juice right away, and if not, keep cool and away from light (so keep in tight opaque container sa fridge), and still consume within 24 hours.

Pagbili ko ng berries ay by bulk at pagkahugas at pag tuyo na ay naka tupperware na sa freezer. Nasolve ung waste due to spoilage. Sa greens naman, bago pa ako nag-green juice ay natutunan kong magtanim – lettuce, beets, chard, kale, parsley, spinach/amarynth, mustard. Maski un lang may suppy ka na na walang pesticide basta tiyaga laang pasiritan ung aphids, etc. Kahit konti lang space, o container na malapad kung 1-2 person household pwede na basta may sunlight at shade kung extreme ang temperature. Pag wala, bili ako ng greens na dahil sa green juicing ay hindi na natatapon.

And one last thing, I buy wheat grass seeds from farmers market but instead of adding it to salad, I plant them at pagupit gupit na lang ako para isama sa green juice. It is said to be packed with nutrients. Ung iba, they buy an ounce or two of wheat grass juice for $2.50. I tried an oz once, aba ay masarap. Isang tagay ay kamahal, kaya I buy the seeds instead. Ocassionally, and I hope to add to my routine ay carrot/spinach juicing parang si Popeye.

Another PS - pag tanim, ay maganda rin may thyme, sage, oregano, mint, catnip, etc para pang-brew ng tea. Nakakatulong din pang-alis gas. Sa gabi naman ay chamomile flowers (nabibili by bag or can) pang tya, pampatulog.

Warning - while nakakaneutralize ng acid ung alkaline foods (parang battery, ano), pag ingest ng hindi luto, madalas ang pagkawala ng hangin Embarassed kaya plan accordingly if you have a board meeting coming up Laughing.

Pasensya na po sa haba. Malaki na po ang naitulong nitong change sa akin, so gusto ko lamang i-share.
