pinoy_sa_china] 2nd Pinoy Ako Children's CampThursday, August 25, 2011 11:09 AMFrom: "philippine" <philippineembassy>Add sender to ContactsTo: pinoy_sa_china@yahoogroups.com

Mga Kababayan,

The Philippine Embassy and some members of the Filipino community are organizing the 2nd Pinoy Ako Children's Camp.

This activity aims to connect our children living abroad to their 'roots' as Filipinos and to be proud to be one -- i.e., knowing much about the Philippines -- its people, values, culture, traditions, language, and geography.

The focus of this year's camp is "Proud to be Pinoy". Through this fun and educational activity, the organizers hope to

1) create awareness among the participants about those that they should be proud of as Filipinos (e.g. the first national revolution in Asia , EDSA, High-Achiever Filipinos recognized and respected in their field of expertise, etc.).

2) To highlight foundations or reasons behind why they should be proud of these people/events and associate these with Filipino values and traits learned early on from home/family and the children's appreciation of the history of the Philippines and identity of the Filipino people.

Areas:

· Significant Events (Past/Present)

· People's Achievements/Contribution to Philippines and to the world (Past, Present, including those in Beijing )

· Tourism Destinations

WHEN: 10 September 2011, from 9 am to 4pm

WHERE: Social Hall of the Philippine Embassy

PARTICIPANTS: Filipino children, from 3 to 15 years old, in and around Beijing

Additional details:

1.There's a registration fee of 50RMB per child -- this will be used to purchase needed things for the camp (prizes, gifts/tokens, etc.)
2.Each child must bring her/his own 'baon' for food and drinks --- i.e., for snacks in the morning, lunch, and snacks in the afternoon.
3.Each child may bring extra food/drink to share with others (i.e., for snacks in the morning, lunch, and snacks in the afternoon.
4.Parents who will stay during the summer camp must bring their own baon too (snacks am, lunch, snacks pm)
5.Transportation to and from the Philippine Embassy must be arranged per family, or can do car-pooling;
6.Each child must bring their own art materials (pentel pens, colored pens pencils, crayons, stapler, scotch tape, water color& brushes, scissors, etc.)

For interested parties, please email the embassy (beijing.pe@dfa.gov.ph) or call/text Ms. Weng Sacristia at MP:13911358474 on or before 6 September 2011

The organizing committee is also inviting parent volunteers to help in the conduct of this children's camp.

From: "philippine" <philippineembassy>Add sender to ContactsTo: pinoy_sa_china@yahoogroups.com

A diplomatic official attached to an embassy or legation, especially in a technical capacity, a commercial attaché, a cultural attaché, a military.

Yan ang pagkakaalam ko correct me if i am wrong...

Salamat po

VOTE FOR THE PUERTO PRINCESA UNDERGROUND RIVER AS ONE OF
THE NEW SEVEN WONDERS OF THE WORLD!

President Benigno S. Aquino III issued Proclamation 182 declaring a national and international campaign to encourage all Filipinos and all friends of the Filipino people to help in making the Puerto Princesa Underground River to be proclaimed as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature (N7WN).

The N7WN is a global campaign started in 2007 by an independent, Swiss-based, government-controlled foundation that conducted the global voting campaign in search of the New 7 Wonders of the World. From an initial list of over 400 locations around the world, the Puerto Princesa Underground River is the lone finalist from the Philippines and now ranks 14th of 28 Official Finalist candidates.

The Puerto Princesa Underground River National Park is located about 50 kilometers north of the city of Puerto Princesa, Palawan. It features a limestone karst mountain landscape with an 8.2 kilometer navigable underground river, considered the longest underground river in the world. The cave which the river winds through has major formations of stalactites and stalagmites, and several large chambers. At the mouth of the cave, a clear lagoon is framed by ancient trees growing right at the water's edge. Monkeys, large monitor lizards, and squirrels find their niche on the beach near the cave.

The Puerto Princesa Underground River was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in December 1999 and was declared a National Geological Monument in December 2003. Its inclusion as one of the 28 Official Finalist candidates has made the Puerto Princesa Underground River has attracted international interest that will benefit the Philippine tourism industry.

The Filipino community is encouraged, as a matter of national pride and patriotism, to vote for the Puerto Princesa Underground River. There are three (3) ways to vote for the Puerto Princesa Underground River:

1. Vote via the N7WN website:
Internet voting is allowed per email address. If you have more than one (1) email address, you can use all addresses to vote.
a. Go to the website www.new7wonders.com and click on the Puerto Princesa Underground River as you N7WN candidate. (You will also have to vote for six [6] other candidates in order to register your vote.)
b. Register your email account.
c. Send your vote.
d. You will receive a notification in your email box. Click on the link in the link provided in order for your vote to be confirmed and counted.

2. Vote via text message:
Each text message sent counts as one vote for the Puerto Princesa Underground River. For those in the Philippines, they can vote by sending PPUR to 2861 (Php 2.00 per text for Sun subscribers and Php 2.50 per text for Globe and Smart subscribers).

3. Vote via telephone:
You can vote using the new international telephone voting line, available 24 hours a day from any international telephone line anywhere in the world.
a. Dial any of the international telephone numbers listed below:
+23 92201055
+;1 869 760 5990
+;1 649 339 8080
+44 758 900 1290
b. At the end of the message, after the tone, dial 7723 (Puerto Princesa Underground River's four-digit code).
c. You will hear a thank you message – you have voted by telephone.

Dear Winston,

below po yung message ni Consul Myca Fischer:

Thank you once again for your willingness and readiness to support the
"Pinoy Ako Children's Camp" by being a Filipino hero in our "museum".
Participants in the camp will be kids, 3 to 13 years old. (We expect many
pre-teens, tweeners, and young adults to be there as volunteers. They are
too old to join the camp as participant, but they would also benefit from
what we want to impart.)

Allow me to provide you more details about the mechanics of the Museum of
Filipino Heroes. The Museum is composed of two parts: the wax heroes and the real heroes (kung saan ka naka assign Smile) . The kids, in groups of 2-3, will be going around
the museum at the same time, taking turns to learn more about these heroes.

In the Real heroes museum, the kids will be pretending to be TV reporters
and will be asking the real heroes some questions about their job and
passion.

After the interview, the kids will be returning to their home base
(according to age group) and will be asked to report on 1 or 2 Filipino
heroes they feel proud of as a Filipino and what they learned from the real
heroes they interviewed.

Since our participants are kids, they need the encounter with you to be
concrete, tactile and visual.

This portion will start at 2 pm. We hope you can be at the Embassy a little
before 2pm.

If you have any questions, please ask Weng.

Again, maraming salamat.

Consul Myca Fischer

Mga Kababayan,

The Organizing Committee of the Pinoy Ako Children's Camp (OC-PACC) has decided to organize, for the first time, a Pinoy Ako Children's mini-Camp for Christmas. Aside from being an enjoyable event, it would also be an opportunity to show Pinoy kids in Beijing (and surrounding cities) how Christmas is celebrated in the Philippines.

This event will take place on 18 December, from 11 am to 2pm. It will lead up to the Filipino Community Christmas Party. Please mark your calendars!

OC-PACC is looking for more volunteers (parents, singles, adults, or teen-agers) who could share their time and talent in making this first ever Pinoy Ako Children's mini-Camp for Christmas a fun and meaningful activity. Please contact Ms. Myca Fischer at tel. 6532-2556 or email: beijing.pe@dfa.gov.ph
