To Lily Quesada, the entire world was a stage. An expressive, optimistic and full of positive vibes individual, she was a performer in the theater of life. To everyone around her, she seemed to be eternally happy, and she willingly shared that joy with anyone whose life she touched. For Lily, bringing out the best in any situation was as easy as offering a smile or a witty e-mail or a Facebook status update. And with just those simple gestures, she could evoke the most pleasant of emotions. Lily really mastered the art of living and had great fun in doing so.

Her parents were Eusebio Quesada and Concepcion Dandana. Lily was born and raised in the town of Paete, province of Laguna in the Philippines but she spent her adult life in America- first in the United States as an exchange student and then in Canada for the rest of her life.

Lily graduated at the University of the Philippines - PGH School of Nursing and become a Registered Nurse. She went on an Exchange Student Visitors Program in the United States at hospitals in Texas and Baltimore. She relocated to Canada and worked as Dental Supervisor at the University of Toronto College of Dentistry.

She soon developed a passion for computers and networking and in 1988 she decided to quit her nursing job and began her two year studies in Computer Science. She became an associate at eVision Assistive Technology Inc. where she worked as a Certified Computer Trainor teaching the visually and hearing impaired and physically challenged persons on how to use a personal computer and surf the Internet. She founded the FILIPINO COMMUNITY COMPUTING SECTOR (FCCS) which helped and trained the Filipinos living abroad in using the then new phenomenon called the World Wide Web through collaboration with the Toronto Free-Net and the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) office.

In December 1997, she collaborated with veteran Filipino journalist, Sol Jose Vanzi in launching the PHILIPPINE HEADLINE NEWS ONLINE (PHNO) at which at that time was the main source of online news by Filipinos abroad. Since that time in 1997 and until the day she was hospitalized last March, 2017 due to a major infection, she had been dutifully feeding the Filipinos abroad with email and online news stories.

Lily had an endless appetite for new and different activities. She was always ready to join in the fun and add her flair and energy to a group or organization that she belongs. Because of her vibrant personality and her ability to get along with everyone, Lily's presence was greatly valued by the groups to which she belonged.

A generous person who often wore her heart on her sleeve, Lily often found herself involved in activities she deemed important. She was charitable, kind and giving- qualities that made her a natural volunteer. Outspoken in her beliefs, yet tactful in her dealings with others, Lily has no enemies and spent all her life helping and providing assistance to her family and friends. She had a very special relationship with her autistic nephew, Ron Michael. She designed and maintained a website for him ( and was instrumental in motivating and encouraging Ron to play and learn the piano.

Vested with a deep concern for spiritual development, Lily recognized that her faith was important to her throughout her life. She is a devout Catholic and served as a choir member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Toronto for over 40 years.

Lily passed away on May 7, 2017 at 10:30 am at the Rouge Valley Centenary Hospital in Toronto, Ontario Canada. She brought joy to all of those around her. She never had a mean bone in her body. She lived a positive life and was an eternal optimist, always looking on the bright side of things. She loved to share her energy, wit, and her zest for all of her activities with her friends and family. Lily Quesada lived life to its fullest and made everyone around her happier just for knowing her. She will be remembered with a smile.

In behalf of Navarro-Calabig families, I wish to extend my condolences to the Quesada-Carolino-Baisas families. In Lily, the community has lost someone very special and a true Paetenian. Rest in peace, Lee.
