This is pretty cool.

UNBELIEVABLE MATH PROBLEM
Here is a math trick so unbelievable that it will stump you.

1. Grab a calculator. (you won't be able to do this one in your head)
2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area code)
3. Multiply by 80
4. Add 1
5. Multiply by 250
6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number
7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.
8. Subtract 250
9. Divide number by 2

Do you recognize the answer?

The first step

let x be the first 3 digits of your phone number:

80x + 1

then multiply by 250

250(80x + 1)
= 20000x + 250

let y be the last four digits

add y

20000x + 250 + y

add y again

20000x + 250 + 2y

substract 250

20000x + 2y

divide by 2

10000x + y

This will give you your phone number in decimal (if your phone number has seven digits)

i had fun in college crafting my own problems like this. Just think of simple "magic" algorithm in algebra, reverse the process as outlined by angel
using x and y then think of any "vanity" number to replace the variables

mind stimulating
