I like Charlie's wisdom...and I am for the youth and the masa. Ka Charlie, mabuhay ka...for me, wisdom is above knowledge...for in wisdom, comes truth. Serve our town in truth and changes will just be around the corner. Wink

They may post their platform on this forum if they wish. A positive
sharing of information and vision is welcomed in this forum.
Negative and personal attacks are not.

What is "negative" and what is "positive"? Who decides what is negative/positive?

Yes, there may be differing opinions on what is positive and what is negative. However, a posting that carries a negative and personal attack can be discerned. The moderators of the forum will decide which posting is acceptable or not, but we are counting on our participants to exercise responsibility and good judgment before posting, which will help the moderators greatly.

I want to ask if we are allowed to vote and how?
I am a registered voter here in Phil Embassy(Switzerland) and I submitted already my senatorial voting envelope sent by comelec from Manila. I also have my voting ID.

How about voting our Paete Mayor etc.?

Fely: You must be busy since we seldom see you in Usap. How are the plans for your trip to Brazil? I am just wondering if Filipino nationals who are citizens of other countries are allowed to vote in Philippine elections. We miss Switzerland. Was gibt es neues?

These may help:

Frequently Asked Questions Primer
http://www.comelec.gov.ph/oav/booklet-pri.pdf

Take note that the following are disqualified from registering as
overseas absentee voters:

An immigrant or a permanent resident who is recognized as such in
the host country, unless he/she executes upon filing of an
application for registration as overseas absentee voter an affidavit
declaring that: (i) he/she shall resume actual physical permanent
residence in the Philippines not later than three (3) years from
approval of his/her registration, and (ii) he/she has not applied for
citizenship in another country;

And to answer your specific question, absentee voting does not
cover voting for district representatives and local government:

Section 4 (Coverage) of RA 9189 (Overseas Voting Act)

All citizens of the Philippines abroad, who are not otherwise
disqualified by law, at least eighteen ( 18 ) years of age on the day
of elections, may vote for president, vice-president, senators
and party-list representatives

Nice suggestion but I guess this is not happening. This is also a good opportunity to do an accounting. Among the incumbent or past winners who are standing in this year's elections, what have been their accomplishments while they're in office? This is a good indicator on how they will perform when re-elected. Maybe they have flyers and leaflets listing them, I hope somebody can (will?) find the time to scan and post them here? <wink>

BTW, I am hoping "positive" things about the candidates and their platforms will soon find their way into this forum. My gas. I wish I can attend the mitings instead. I am an almost imsomniac. Smile

I just read a Loven Calupe fan's write-up. Congratulations!

I wish the Calma and Florsan team will post their platform. We all have an idea of what Ka Noel has done and I think electing him is for continuity. Choosing another leader is an unknown, so it's good for them to let us know what we should expect (and maybe disappointed about) in the next three years.

cheers!

ALL MY LOVEN!

Thanks Frank. I was also interested is in the achievements of the individual candidates for councilors, specially those standing for re-election. What are the ordinances they have authored, etc. I think voting straight is not a good idea anyway. There should always be a credible opposition in the SB even if the administration is doing a good job.

But anyway, thanks. I will be in Paete very soon. I don't know if I can make it for the election though I cannot vote anymore. Do you have the leaflets of the other parties as well?

My advise to our kababayans: don't vote straight. Smile

cheers!

greetings!!!

Marami Pong Salamat!

Yes please....the people want to see or know the individual accomplishments, particularly of the councilors, the laws or ordinances they have authored [or co-authored]. It will give us voters, ample reasons to re-elect them.

I also do not subscribe to straight voting!

Agree. I also wish I could attend the meetings although as pointed out by one guest here, you'll not like all of what you'll hear which I think is not a good indicator of how sincere they are willing to serve our town. That is just my opinion, I have never actually read or heard anything of sort. But I wish I could hear them more. That is why I also hope I could see their platforms here in the forum.

tony.basa wrote:

I admire the so called fans of Loven Calope. But first of all, anyone who wants to run into office must know exactly what is the main function of his or her wanted position and the procedures that goes with it. They should be careful of what they say in their campaign and their campaign taglines. I have nothing against Mr. Calope and this goes for all candidates as well. Kakampi? Tama nga siguro. Pero pag-asa ng mahihirap? That is a very serious thing to say just to gain votes from the poor townspeople. It is something any candidate might regret about if he or she ever wins. Being into office requires not only the intention to serve (because almost everybody has that intention) but the strong will to adhere to what was said and promised during the campaign period.

Agree. I hope they post their platforms soon. We barely have a week. Yes reelecting Ka Noel is indeed for continuity which brings me again to my questions every election. If we would vote for a new one, will that be counter productive? Because most newly elected don’t usually continue what the previous administration have started especially if they are the number one critic of a particular project that has been started. Which means a waste of money, time and effort. If we would vote for the opposition councilors, will they spend their time as councilors to criticize the administration instead of doing what they have been elected to do? (This might also apply for the senatorial candidates.) That is why I look for genuine platforms and not criticisms to other candidates.

Isang bayntsingko ko po.
