Let's not forget that the former Vice Mayor Juanito Calabig was the promoter of the Paete basketball league.

Dankoy is not very good shooter but what i saw the way he played before is very good support to his team mate like Allan Caidic he is a very good screener, I saw them played as Ibabaac with yellow uniform.

PostPosted: Wed May 20, 2009 2:45 am    Post subject: Days of the Alcanars Reply with quote

Founded by Mr. Alcantara at ELC way back in the year late 60's
with some players in high school as:
Boy Calabig
Nestor Afurong
Boy Cahola
Alex Adea
Pedy Dalagan (my brod)
Conrado Ac-Ac
Junior Cadapan
Mie Valdellon and sometime "bunot" from Manila,
Allan Ong and lot more I can't remember.

Lost in the limelight of basketball league of our town, then
got into life again with young Alcanars of Gitnang Bayan in
1965 as 4 years depending champion in the introduction of
Mosquito Division then in Kids Division, revived too were the
Midget and Senior Division.
Great Rivals of Alcanars are Casper, The Nazi Team, Falcons
of Ilaya del Norte and Ibaba Republic-S Fly.

Fresh in my mind were some youth of Alcanars like:

Adoy " adoynado" Villanueva Felipe Tolentino
Mario Ac-Ac (+) Rustom Santos (+)
Mario "boy" Adea Gil Adea
Emer Afuang....etc. and the coaches are:
Oscar " oca" Adea (+)
Jaime " kalabaw" Albunag and Junior Cadapan

That's all I can still remember with the Happy Days of
Alcanars of Gitnang Bayan.

With My Shares,
Tony Dalagan

Hi Orlyn,
I am just humble servant of
our Lord Jesus Christ.

Somy

Kilala kong lahat ang mga nasa litrato sayang at kalahati lang, yong nasa likud na standing position if I'm not mistaken is Mr.Zosimo Roque and all the rest I knew them especially albert fernandez, and tomas baes is a very funny guy always have good humour.haba caidic is a center and deadly jump shooter.albert fernandez became a good referee and always involve in the local basketball league, sometimes he still play pag dumayo kami ng laro sa ibang bayan noong panahon namin nina loly castillo kasama sina tuwad cadawas doming caidic and the rest. mention din si carte gimena he always invite me to play anywhere sometime in quezon province everywhere in laguna and of course tuwad is always included most of the time we always excel even the referee always favor the hometown team, only santa cruz is strong team that time in 2nd district we can say we are almost in the same standing.yah, yah as rey b say maybe i'll start to play again i'm over 60 still playing sport but not quick sport, leasurely sport laang ngayon, golf that is my hobby now last year i win the flight A 110 years anniversary of Gymkhana golf club another trophy in my collection and last 24 of may i got 1st runner up trophy at another competition getting old i shot 78,it is 6 over par not so bad for going 66 anyway most of the golfers is in their 30s or 40s so i'm still happy, but basketball is the most exciting sport when i was young and it is so interesting to see all those pictures of our legendary basketball players of the past,a big thanks to vice mutuk and the rest for this topic, some more pictures please.... dv
